Ribarska kuca is a straightforward roadside restaurant in Brodski Stupnik that caters especially well to travelers and locals looking for hearty, traditional Croatian dishes. Its location along the highway makes it a convenient stop for those passing through or taking a break from driving, with plenty of parking space that often fills up with truckers and regular visitors alike.

The restaurant offers a modest but focused menu, featuring classic regional specialties such as fišpaprikaš (fish stew), goveđi gulaš (beef goulash), and various grilled fish like smuđ na žaru (grilled pike-perch) and pastrmka (trout). You’ll also find familiar comfort foods like ćevapi u lepinji and pljeskavica with fries, alongside several mixed meat platters that showcase the local love for straightforward, filling meals. Portions are notably generous, making this a practical choice if you’re hungry and on the go.

The vibe here leans toward casual and functional rather than ornate, which fits well with its setting catering mostly to road travelers and working folks. The staff are described as polite and helpful, even if the English language barrier means communication is done mostly with gestures and simple words—never enough of a hurdle to get what you need.

Sanitary facilities are basic, and non-customers are charged a small fee to use the toilet, a detail worth noting if you’re stopping purely for a quick drink or rest. The interior is practical and busy during peak hours, reflecting a place where people come less for ambiance and more for reliable, traditional fare with plenty of local character.

This spot is best for anyone craving authentic, no-nonsense Croatian food away from city centers—especially those traveling through the region by car or truck. Meals arrive with a clear sense of tradition and local flavor, making Ribarska kuca a solid pit stop to refuel if you appreciate strong, familiar dishes served in a straightforward, welcoming environment.

True traditional local food. Portions are huge, food deserves 6/5 stars. Absolute must stop and eat. Anyone who says different can go to McDonald's and eat their food. Highly recommend!! Definitely coming back any time I'm on the road here.

The food is delicious and pretty typical. The staff is pleasing and gentle, although it seems like they don't speak English but you'll manage to understand each other. The toilet is not very clean and you have to pay 1 euro if you are not a client.

Highway road restoran, food is good and they have not to much big menu but you can choose different option from fishes to meet, from cocked to grill meals. This is both Michelin stars restaurant but food is good and tasty. Prices are more than affordable. Recommendation!

We stopped for coffee and juice only (not for meals). The personnel was courteous, sanitary conditions good. Albeit we didn't have a meal, we saw the parking lot was full of truckers. We figure the meals must be tasty for a good price because you can't fool the truckers, right?
